
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 (April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010 in the USA) was an American performer and actress. She was in films in the 1940s and 1950s[2] and also on television during the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her official name, and she was offered a contract by Columbia Pictures[citation needed[citation required]. She worked on comedy shorts and features on Columbia Pictures "B". Later, she changed her name to Adele Mara. Mara was receptionist in Three Stooges' film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she plays the main female character, playing the sister of an escapee and wrongfully found guilty prisoner. She moved to Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was ended. The studio specialized in the genre of westerns as well as outdoor adventure. [citation needed] She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch which starred John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love interests, California Passage (leading lady), and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
